About VSACFederalLoans.org
VSACFederalLoans.org is an independent higher education finance research portal, personal debt calculator suite, and archival repository documenting federal student loan servicing transitions.
Our Historical DNA: The VSAC Servicing Transition
For decades, the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC)—created by the Vermont General Assembly in 1965—served as an official federal loan servicer under contract with the United States Department of Education. Borrowers nationwide with Direct and FFEL student loans accessed their accounts through the historic vsacfederalloans.org domain.
In March 2024, as part of the Department of Education's Unified Servicing and Data (USDS) modernization initiative, VSAC formally transitioned its federal loan servicing portfolio to American Education Services (AES) and Trellis Company. While VSAC continues to operate state-based Vermont grant programs and private Advantage education loans, federal Title IV loan servicing accounts were migrated to AES.
Preserving Financial Aid Transparency for US Universities
Because dozens of accredited university financial aid portals—including Georgia State University, Marquette University, Cal Poly Maritime Academy, and Andrews University—historically directed students to VSAC federal servicing, this platform maintains updated transition guidance so borrowers are never left stranded or vulnerable to third-party student loan scams.
Editorial Mission & Analytical Principles
Our organization is committed to providing rigorous, unbiased financial literacy tools and regulatory analysis:
- Pure Computational Modeling: Our 5 interactive calculators are built on transparent statutory formulas (34 CFR § 685.208, IRC § 221, and HHS Poverty Guidelines) without proprietary black-box calculations.
- No Inbound or Outbound Conflicts: During our active review periods, our guides operate independently from commercial student loan refinancing sponsors or lead-generation brokers.
- Peer-Reviewed Regulatory Analysis: Every legal guide covering PSLF, SAVE injunctions, or borrower defense settlements is reviewed against primary federal case law and Department of Education Federal Register publications.
